The St. Louis Longbeards

is a local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation. We are a very active chapter with several projects each year, including:

  • An NWTF Superfund banquet usually the second Saturday in August
  • A J.A.K.E.S. mock-turkey hunt in early April to teach youngsters how to safely hunt turkeys
  • The Mid-America Open Turkey Calling and Owl Hooting Championships in St. Louis on Saturday at the annual St. Louis Sport & Boat show at the "Americas Center" every February. It is one of the largest calling contests in the country, and attracts the best callers in the world. Previous winners include Steve Stoltz, Rickie Joe Bishop, Chris Parrish, Walter Parrott and Mark Drury.
  • Multiple small club level activities like picnics and small calling contests.

We meet on the Second Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM. Meetings typically feature a guest speaker on some hunting or other conservation related topic. The Meetings are free and open to the public.

Our normal meeting location is the Elks Lodge at 4261 Berghill Road. Take Hwy 255 east from the 55/270 interchange, then take the Koch road exit south, or right. Then turn right on Robert Koch road. Look for the Elks lodge on your left. For further directions, call the Elks at 894-9550.

For further information about this or any other club activity, call the Longbeards hotline any time at (314)633-TRKY. To join the NWTF call (800)THE-NWTF.
